Sheriff’s Report: Woman arrested for suspected DUI after concerned citizen reported her driving

A woman was arrested for suspected DUI over the weekend after a concerned citizen reported her driving.

Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a report of an intoxicated driver in the Kamas area on Saturday, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office. The caller said the suspect was driving erratically, flashing their high beams and driving without lights.

Deputies located the vehicle on the side of the road near S.R. 32 and Hilltop Road in Francis. They made contact with the driver, who displayed signs of intoxication, according to the report.

A standardized field sobriety test was conducted, which the driver performed poorly on. The woman faced several charges at the time of her arrest including, suspected driving under the influence, no proof of insurance, failure to provide a driver’s license and more. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to several other calls between Monday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 27, including reports of vehicle burglary, theft and overdue hikers.

Sunday, Aug. 27

Summit County Search and Rescue responded to the King’s Peak area in the morning for an overdue party that was reported during the night shift. Volunteers verified the group was delayed, but they had made it back to their vehicles without incident.

Search and Rescue responded to the Crystal Lake area to assist medical units with an injured person. The individual was located and hoisted from the area using a medical helicopter.

Deputies were dispatched to Outlets Park City for a past theft. Two women entered a store and stole merchandise. The women left the area in a black car with no front or rear license plates. Deputies do not have any leads or suspects.

An employee at a Kimball Junction business reported a woman stole multiple pairs of sunglasses. Deputies obtained a description of the suspect and circulated the area in an attempt to locate her. The suspect was not located. Deputies said she left the area in a vehicle.

Saturday, Aug. 26

Search and Rescue was notified of a group of overdue hikers. They attempted to ping the location of the known phones, but they were unsuccessful. The group was well-prepared and in good physical shape. Search and Rescue will also be notified in the morning if the group has not been heard from.

Search and Rescue was notified of an overdue party. However, the group returned home before the volunteers responded. No action was taken.

Deputies were notified by phone call of a past theft in Coalville. The complainant said two unknown men were seen on his property. A WiFi-connected trail camera captured the individuals on Aug. 21. The men took a trail camera. The individuals were not known to the homeowner or his neighbors.

Friday, Aug. 25

Deputies were dispatched to Bear Hollow for reports of an individual brandishing a firearm after a road rage incident. After reviewing video footage of the incident, deputies were unsure whether a criminal incident occurred.

A vehicle was keyed in the Red Stone area. The complainant was eating dinner with his wife when the incident happened sometime between 6:30 and 9:20 p.m. No surveillance cameras were apparent in the area. The damage was on the front and rear driver’s side doors. Photographs were taken for evidence.

Thursday, Aug. 24

Deputies stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Exit 145 on-ramp. The individual’s driver’s license was processed and he came back as an alcohol-restricted driver with an ignition interlock device restriction. However, the driver’s vehicle was not equipped with the device. Deputies also learned the individual had active warrants out of Wasatch County. He was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A traffic stop was conducted near the Peoa Cemetery. Deputies discovered the driver had a no-bail warrant. The passenger was also found to have 11 active warrants, and the individual admitted to having drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Deputies searched the car and located fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana and other paraphernalia. Both individuals were arrested for active warrants, possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.

Wednesday, Aug. 23

A woman in the Snyderville Basin left her vehicle unlocked in a park parking lot. She noticed her wallet containing her credit cards, driver’s license and a set of keys had been stolen. The woman canceled her bank cards.

A traffic stop was conducted in Silver Creek for an expired registration. The driver was discovered to have an active warrant out of Utah County. The individual was arrested.

Monday, Aug. 21

Search and Rescue was contacted about an overdue party in the King’s Peak area. Volunteers and the Mounted Patrol were deployed. They soon learned the group made it back to their car.
